Su Zhenchang attended Chen Qimai's new book launch conference, praised his efforts and looked forward to returning to the Executive Yuan

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai held a book launch event for "Kaohsiung, Tighten Tight: 2314 Days of Extreme Transformation" at the Kaohsiung Municipal Library this morning (6th). Former Executive President Su Tseng-chang was specially present to thank Chen Chi-mai for his efforts as his deputy when he was the cabinet minister. He also expressed the hope that Chen Chi-mai will return to the Executive Yuan in the future and will sit at the front of the Executive Yuan meeting.

Su Zhenchang recalled that when he was serving as the Executive Yuan, he wanted to find Chen Qimai as the Vice President, but someone said, "He is Xiaoying's person." Su replied, "President Tsai asked me to form a cabinet and appointed me as the Executive Yuan. I am Xiaoying's person!" Then the second person said, "Qimai, he is very impatient and difficult to get along with." He also replied, "I am in a hurry, am I not in a hurry?"

Su Zhenchang expressed his gratitude for working with Chen Qimai during that time and working hard for the country under the leadership of President Tsai. Su Zhenchang once said to Chen Qimai, who was regarded as a young star, "Let's have a look together and see who you get along with better." As a result, Chen Qimai wrote this sentence in the book.

He recalled that on January 14, 2019, Chen Qimai, who had a public health background, said at the morning meeting of the Executive Yuan: "There is a situation in Wuhan, and we need to pay special attention to this." Su Zhenchang immediately asked Chen Qimai to serve as the convener of the epidemic prevention team. At the meeting that day, it was decided that planes coming from Wuhan would be boarded for quarantine. Then the Wuhan pneumonia (COVID-19) broke out. He also thanked Chen Qimai and his office director Li Huairen for using big data analysis to create a mask map when Chinese people were rushing to get masks.

Su Zhenchang praised Chen Qimai for the six years he has been the mayor of Kaohsiung. He has not only worked hard, but also been efficient, rhythmic, visionary, and well-planned. "Kaohsiung has really changed a city by choosing the right people who can do things well." Not only the industrial investment and concert economy, but also the beauty of Kaohsiung as a whole have made young people appreciate Kaohsiung.

He finally emphasized that "Chen Qimai has not let down the people of Kaohsiung" and is likely to return to the Executive Yuan in the future, and will sit at the front of the Executive Yuan meeting.
