Pure hustle earns the Sharks a try

Blayke Brailey belts what looks like a perfect 40/20, but it bounces up and back over the head of Apa Twidle.
The Eels fullback gets there in time to regather as Sifa Talakai bears down on him, but he's brought down by Jesse Colquhoun and loses the ball as he's hit by Briton Nikora.
Brailey has arrived and he scoops it up and beats Josh Addo-Carr to the tryline.
Twidle has his head in the turf and is cursing himself rotten, but Mitch Moses rushes over to him to tell him to keep his chin up. That's a great display of leadership.
52' Parramatta's defence holds firm

The Sharks through Sione Katoa and Will Kennedy make a powerful start to the sets and get a restart midway through. Nicho Hynes gets away with an obstruction on the fourth and then, on the last, he hits Teig Wilton with a short ball and Mitch Moses crushes him to force the turnover.
44' Sharks get away with blatant knock-on

Will Kennedy tries to pull his hands away from a bomb after letting it bounce, but it clearly hits his left wrist and goes forward. He charges forward and regathers, but there's no whistle.
And the Sharks are suddenly on the attack.

Oregon Kaufusi offloads on the opening hit-up, straight into Blayke Brailey. Teancum Brown scoops the ball up and dives in, but he's knocked on in picking up the ball.
The Eels get the scrum feed as Brailey knocked on.

HALF-TIME: Sharks add a penalty goal to cut the Eels' lead to 18

Parramatta has come out firing and leads 26-6 as the Sharks try one last play in the half. The whistle blows for a penalty against the Eels as the clock hits zero, and the Sharks decide to take the two points rather than try a final play.
The Eels lead by three converted tries as the teams hit the sheds.
38' Ronaldo Mulitalo is under the Eels' skin

Mitchell Moses makes a break and hits the deck after an ankle tap, and Ronaldo Mulitalo dives on him to finish him off hard.
The Eels take exception, which is fair enough, but there wasn't anything illegal in it and Jack Williams is lucky not to be penalised for starting a melee.
But Mulitalo is put on report for a high shot! Gee, I didn't see much contact with the head there.
What a try by Ronald Volkman!

Mawene Hiroti's injury means Briton Nikora is defending at centre outside Nicho Hynes, and that's where Volkman attacks, scything through a gap and fending off Nikora on his way through.
Volkman outpaces Hynes, steps past Will Kennedy, and beats KL Iro coming across in cover to score a brilliant solo try.
35' The bunker helps the Eels out

A high cross-field kick appears to have gone dead off the Eels for a dropout, but the bunker chimes in after finding a ROnaldo Mulitalo knock-on.

As the Eels get Junior Paulo back to make it 13 vs 13, the Sharks go right and easily strip the Eels for numbers as Will Kennedy throws a a tidy offload to Sione Katoa to score a simple try.
22' The Sharks run afoul of rarely seen rule

The pass out to Sione Katoa takes a deflection off the head of a teammate and the winger regathers, tip-toes down the sideline, throws the ball up as he steps out and regathers to dot down.
But he's not allowed to intentionally throw the ball forward like that, so the try isn't awarded.

12' Junior Paulo is in the sin-bin

Ashley Klein stops the play and sends Junior Paulo to the sin-bin for a hip drop that left Addin Fonua-Blake limping in the previous set.
Paulo daps up AFB on the way off the field, so there's no ill will there, but the Sharks prop is up the race soon after Paulo.
Not great signs for Fonua-Blake.

The bomb goes up and Sean Russell gets into the aerial contest with Will Kennedy. The ball falls to Kitione Kautoga to dot down, but Russell has definitely knocked this on.

8' Sione Katoa can't emulate

The Sharks winger tries to pull off the same trick as Brian Kelly but knocks on and the Eels pack a scrum just on the attacking side of halfway.

Brian Kelly pinches Niwhai Puru's cut-out pass and flies 60 metres upfield before offloading to a late-arriving Will Penisini, who steps back in-field to score the Eels' second.
