A huge sinkhole has formed on the road near the mansion of actor Nicolas Cage in the United States. Page Six reported that the ground opened up near the house.

We are talking about a building with an area of ​​370 square meters worth 10.5 million dollars (about 908 million rubles at the current exchange rate) in the resort of Malibu. Features of the property include a roof terrace and ocean views from the windows.

The day before, a giant hole measuring approximately 9 by 9 meters appeared next to the house in the place of the driveway, exposing the foundation and pipes. Published photographs show that a portable toilet stall, a ladder and fragments of a fence fell into it. At the bottom of the pit you can also see large pieces of concrete and water eroding the soil. According to preliminary data, the cause of the collapse is “coastal erosion”: strong waves caused by Hurricane Marie washed away the foundation of the house and the road collapsed.

Employees of the gas company were at the scene of the emergency and were engaged in restoring the gas pipeline. According to the publication, Cage was not at home at the time of the incident. The author of the article clarified that as a result of the collapse there were no casualties, but the water and gas pipelines were partially damaged, which is why specialists were forced to temporarily stop the gas supply. Later, Malibu authorities declared a state of emergency in the area and announced the evacuation of residents of all affected houses due to the risk of building collapse. The dangerous area was fenced off with signal cones.
