The Government declares Begoña Gómez "innocent" and pressures the popular jury

The Government is already telling the popular jury what it has to rule regarding Begoña Gómez, Pedro Sánchez's wife: declare her "innocent." This was expressed emphatically by the minister spokesperson, Elma Saiz, from a speaker as solemn as the press conference after the Council of Ministers.

"As a Government we trust that a fair jury will do justice and in this case to do justice is to declare Begoña Gómez innocent," he stressed.

Yesterday, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado issued the order to open the oral trial against the wife of Pedro Sánchez for the crimes of influence peddling and embezzlement. This will place Begoña Gómez in front of a popular jury, which will decide whether or not she is guilty.

The Government has no doubt about this and openly puts pressure on it by equating doing "justice" with acquitting Gómez of the crimes of which he is accused. Also in the judicial field, the minister spokesperson has come out in defense of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, proclaiming her presumption of innocence and pointing out that the former president will "without a doubt" give sufficient explanations to the judge about his jewelry, once he has rushed to clarify its origin.
