Death of couple in Elazığ: Not fire, but brutality

In the autopsy of the couple Ağa and Hayriye Üykü, whose lifeless bodies were found in their burned-down house in Elazığ's Karakoçan district yesterday, bullet marks were detected on their bodies. The heartbreaking incident in Elazığ took place in a 2-storey detached house in the Ürünlü hamlet of Koçyiğitler village in Karakoçan district.

Last night, for an unknown reason, a fire broke out in the Üykü couple's house.

Upon notice, Karakoçan Municipality fire brigade and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region.

While the fire was extinguished with the intervention of the teams, the lifeless bodies of Ağa Üykü and his wife Hayriye Üykü were found in the house. The couple's body was taken to the Fırat University Hospital morgue.

During the autopsy of Ağa and Hayriye Üykü couple, bullet marks were detected on their bodies.

While it was evaluated that the house was set on fire after the Üykü couple was shot and killed, the investigations revealed that the gold and valuable belongings of Hayriye Üykü were missing.

The investigation into the incident continues.

The Üykü couple were the parents of Gülnur Üykü Kalpakçıoğlu, wife of Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Okan Kalpakçıoğlu.
