Elections 2026: see who the candidates for governor, senator, federal and state deputy are in PI

Voters will choose governor, two senators, 10 federal deputies and 30 state deputies next Sunday (4).

On Sunday (4), voters in Piauí go to the polls to choose governor, 2 senators, 10 federal deputies and 30 state deputies.

In total, 2,708,160 people can vote in the state, 2,239,560 of which are mandatory. Teresina is the city with the largest electorate in Piauí.

On Tuesday (29), TV Clube will hold a debate with candidates for the Government. Representatives of parties with at least 5 congressmen participate.

On Friday (25), g1 held a debate between state Senate candidates. They discussed public safety, health, drought and other topics.

For the Federal Chamber, Piauí will compete for 10 seats. The state Legislative Assembly will have 30 seats up for grabs in the elections.

The names and ballot box numbers were registered by political parties and federations with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Some candidacies are subject to judgment by the Electoral Court.

In the first round, 2,708,160 voters will be able to go to the polls in Piauí. For 2,239,560 of these people, voting is mandatory. Compared to the 2022 elections, the state gained 134,350 new voters.

Teresina is the city with the largest electorate, with 592,180 people eligible to vote. Next, Parnaíba (118,062), Picos (54,453), Piripiri (53,256) and Floriano (45,071) complete the list of the five cities with the highest number of voters in the state.

Consultation with candidates

The 1st round of voting will be held on October 4th. If no candidate for governor reaches an absolute majority of valid votes, the 2nd round will take place on October 25th.

On Tuesday (29), TV Clube will hold a debate with candidates for the Government of Piauí, broadcast live on TV and other broadcaster platforms.

Candidates from parties and federations that have at least five representatives in the National Congress were invited, in accordance with the established rules.

Senate

The Senate will renew 54 of the 81 seats (two thirds of the total). And each voter must vote for two different candidates.

On Friday (25), g1 promoted a debate between candidates for the Senate from Piauí, who discussed topics such as combating drought; work and employment; encouraging tourism; organized crime; health; and public safety.

Federal deputies

Piauí is entitled to 10 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília. Among the candidates are parliamentarians seeking re-election and new names seeking to debut in politics.

The Legislative Assembly of Piauí (Alepi) has 30 seats up for grabs. The list of candidates brings together traditional politicians and new names.
