[Reporter Wang Yihong/Taipei Report] Far EasTone Telecommunications continues to deepen its satellite communications layout and actively expands diversified satellite technologies and services. Today (27th), it announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Elveo Mobile, a global mobile phone direct-to-device (D2D) communication service provider, to jointly promote mobile phone direct-to-device satellite technology and services. Jing Qi, General Manager of Far EasTone, said that this cooperation with Elveo Mobile is an important milestone for Far EasTone in deepening the development of direct-connection satellites for mobile phones and promoting integrated space and ground networks. It will further strengthen network resilience and coverage capabilities, and move towards the vision of all-weather, all-scenario networking.
Jing Qi pointed out that in the face of extreme weather, natural disasters, and the increasing demand for uninterrupted communications, it is increasingly important to strengthen network resilience. Far EasTone will continue to integrate the advantages of terrestrial and satellite communications, break through geographical restrictions, create more diverse application possibilities for consumers, enterprises, and public services, improve Taiwan's overall communications resilience, and create a more reliable next-generation network, which will move toward the deep integration of multiple networks on the ground, in the air, and in space.
Ramu Potarazu, CEO of Elveo Mobile, said that Elveo Mobile is building a satellite communication network that combines satellite assets, global spectrum resources and more than 50 mobile network partners. It will work with Far EasTone to promote direct satellite connection services for mobile phones and provide reliable next-generation networking capabilities for Far EasTone users and the Taiwan market. This cooperation is an important step in strengthening the resilience of regional communications and will also allow more fields, devices and applications to enjoy a seamless connection experience.
Far EasTone pointed out that it has continued to promote its satellite communication strategy in recent years and gradually expanded its different satellite communication technologies and service capabilities through cooperation with international partners such as Elveo Mobile. Among them, satellite broadband technology is expected to meet the high-speed connectivity needs of remote areas, specific sites and critical missions; direct connection of mobile phones to satellites can further extend mobile communication coverage, allowing general mobile devices to maintain basic communications through satellites when terrestrial network coverage is insufficient.
Far EasTone will use its diversified satellite technology layout to gradually build a multi-layered communication architecture that integrates "terrestrial mobile networks, satellite broadband and mobile phone direct-to-satellite" to expand network coverage, strengthen communication resilience, and extend more diverse services and application scenarios. As mobile phone direct-to-satellite (D2D) technology continues to develop, terrestrial networks and non-terrestrial networks will complement each other and further evolve towards deep integration. It not only helps improve overall network capabilities and resource utilization efficiency, but also supports more innovative applications and service scenarios, creating more possibilities for the development of next-generation communications.
