Cyber attacks emergency, Piantedosi convenes the National Security Committee for Tuesday

The cybersecurity emergency will be at the center of the National Committee for Public Order and Security convened by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi for Tuesday at the Interior Ministry. At the top of the Intelligence and Postal Police, Piantedosi will ask for a detailed analysis of the risks to public safety connected to cyber attacks and the cyber threat.

The week that ends today, with a long series of cyber attacks on companies and infrastructures, with the repeated bomb scares involving Italian flights and airports and with the publication on the dark web of sensitive data (with a bounty in cryptocurrencies attached) of 18 people considered enemies of Russia (including the Foreign Minister Tajani, the Public Prosecutor of Rome Lo Voi, the director of the Postal Police Gabrielli) have confirmed how Italy is not only one of the countries targeted but also one of the most exposed for the fragility of its structures and defenses in terms of cybersecurity.

According to the latest Clusit 2026 report, almost 10 percent of cybersecurity events recorded in the world occurred in Italy with a year-on-year increase of 42 percent.
