Retired priest accused of molesting a minor. He faces prison

The District Prosecutor's Office in Radzyń Podlaski (Lublin Voivodeship) filed an indictment against a retired priest who allegedly committed sexual crimes against a minor parishioner.

According to investigators' findings, the events allegedly took place in the years 2007-2009, when Sławomir M. was the parish priest. Saint John the Apostle and Evangelist in Polskowola (Kąkolewnica commune).

According to the spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, Marcin Kozak, the priest allegedly "put his hands under the minor's dress at least several times, touched her breasts and buttocks, and stroked her legs."

A breakthrough in the investigation after several years

The case did not see the light of day for many years. Only after a dozen or so years did the injured woman decide to tell her brother about her experiences. This information then went to a clergy friend who, in July 2025, submitted a formal report on the suspicion of committing a crime.

Expert opinion

Sławomir M. was subjected to comprehensive psychiatric, psychological and sexological tests. Experts did not find that he had any mental illness, mental retardation or sexual preference disorders.

In the issued opinion, they indicated that if the suspect had committed the act he was accused of, there were grounds to recognize hebephilic behavior of a substitute nature, in which the minor was treated as a substitute for an adult woman - said the spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

During the investigation, the 70-year-old did not admit to the crimes he was accused of and refused to provide explanations. According to experts, he was fully sane at the time of committing the crime.

The accused faces up to 12 years in prison. The case will be considered by the District Court in Radzyń Podlaski.
