Businessman Alysson Campelo is taken to the police station after arrest for domestic violence in João Pessoa

According to the Civil Police, a procedure related to the case is being completed at the police station. Until the last update of this report, however, there was no information as to whether the businessman's taking to the police station was linked to the case and whether it could result in arrest.

Alysson Campelo Catuhyte Wanderlei was arrested red-handed on August 14, suspected of domestic violence against his partner in João Pessoa. According to the Civil Police, the man would be responsible for the crimes of bodily harm and threat in the context of the Maria da Penha Law.

After arrest, the businessman was taken to the Specialized Women's Assistance Police Station (DEAM) in the South Zone of João Pessoa. He was then taken to the City Civil Police prison.

At the time of his arrest, in a video sent to Rede Paraíba, the suspect's defense said that he "maintains absolute respect for the judiciary, its decisions and the institutions that make up the justice system" and that he "will continue to use all applicable legal instruments, in all instances necessary, to uphold the right to adversarial proceedings and the broad defense of due legal process."

On TV Cabo Branco, at the time Alysson was arrested, the woman who reported him said that she began to live in fear and under control during her relationship with him. The victim said that she began to blame herself for the situations she was experiencing and stated that fear affected her mental health.

"I started to put conditions on myself of guilt. Today I see myself as guilty, I know I'm not. There were many lines that I, because I loved, because I didn't want the family to end, ended up accepting and the fear is making me sick inside", he reported.

According to the woman, her partner's behavior changed after the two started living together. She said that, in the beginning, she considered the relationship to be good, but later she noticed situations of stress and control.

"My beginning with him was the best relationship of my life, of the few I've ever had. He was a wonderful, funny person. When I lived with him, I started to understand that he wasn't that. This extremely stressed guy started to appear. That's what he brought to me. I started to believe that it wasn't verbal violence", he said.

The woman also stated that she lost contact with friends and started avoiding talking to her own mother. According to her, her routine inside the house was monitored by cameras and there were restrictions on where she could go and who she could talk to.

"I lost my friends and I started to understand: I wasn't supposed to call my mother, he didn't like it. My house was monitored in every aspect and I couldn't have access to the cameras. He was watching where I was all day. I didn't leave the house because even the doorknob was monitored. He was in charge of everything. He conditioned everything", he said.
