The bed capacity of Erciyes Ski Center has tripled

Erciyes Ski Center, which has become one of the important addresses of winter tourism with the investments of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, hosts thousands of local and foreign tourists every year.

The bed capacity of the ski resort, which was 1000 in 2011 when the "Erciyes Master Plan" was implemented, tripled with the interest of private investors.

Zafer Akşehirlioğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erciyes AŞ, told the AA correspondent that in the years when the master plan started, there were only small private hotels and guesthouses of some institutions on Mount Erciyes.

Emphasizing that hotel lands were created around Tekir Pond with the master plan, Akşehirlioğlu said, "The hotel lands created with the master plan were first put up for sale. The companies that bought the land immediately started construction. At the beginning of the master project in 2011, we had 1000 beds here, including public guesthouses. Now, we have reached more than 3 thousand beds in 21 hotels." he said.

Akşehirlioğlu stated that there are ongoing hotel constructions and the bed capacity will increase every year.

Pointing out that the guests coming to Erciyes contribute not only to hotel investments in the mountain but also to the development of city hotels, Akşehirlioğlu continued as follows:

"Due to the proximity of our ski resort to the city center, our hotels in the city also serve here. With the implementation of the master plan in Erciyes, the number of hotels in the city center started to increase. Especially in Erciyes, during peak periods, we direct our guests to city hotels, but it is difficult to find vacant space in city hotels. Erciyes has definitely triggered hotel investments in the city. We currently have a bed capacity of around 10 thousand in the city. This number will gradually increase."

"We have spread tourism in Erciyes to 12 months"

Emphasizing that there are important reasons why hotel investors showed interest here after the master plan, Akşehirlioğlu said:

"Factors such as the management of the entire system from a single source and the sole interlocutor being Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality made this place attractive to hotel investors. We made the parts outside the hotel the most comfortable for the guests. They can ski to their heart's content on 112 kilometers of tracks with 19 mechanical facilities, just like in Europe. Once our hoteliers provide excellent service, everything goes well here. It was also very important that the hotel investors believed in the project. We are no longer just a ski resort, but a destination. Erciyes is a ski resort." "Erciyes is not a center that closes its doors after the season. Erciyes is a four-season place that can be used for 12 months. Therefore, we have spread the tourism in Erciyes to 12 months with the teams coming in the summer."
