Aslıhan Altay Karataş - President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his opening speech of the new legislative year at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, gave important messages on the subjects of fund investigation, Turkey without terrorism, fortification of the home front and the new constitution. Erdoğan briefly said the following in his speech that lasted 42 minutes:
FIRST DUTY: SERVICE TO THE NATION: As politicians, our first duty is to serve our nation, whose trust we bear, as it deserves.
WE SOLVE THEM QUICKLY WITHOUT ANY RIGHTS: We successfully overcome the problem that arises in certain parts of the fund market. We are solving this issue quickly, within the framework of capital market rules, by observing fairness and justice, without compromising anyone's rights. I hope we will not allow this issue to turn into a threat to our economic security and social peace.
THE SHELF LIFE OF FRONT POLITICS IS OVER: Since our transition to multi-party democracy, whenever we have made a breakthrough or a development move, we have become the target of operations. Neither Turkey nor the Turkish nation can tolerate losing anymore. No one has the right to make Turkey and the Turkish nation lose. In Turkey, the shelf life of 'front politics' based solely on opposition to the government has expired. Politics; It is a grave mistake to turn it from a competition in service, work and performance into a 'war of attrition' in which the interlocutor is made hostile.
THE "TERRORISM-FREE Türkiye" IMPACT: I would especially like to emphasize that our 'Terror-free Turkey' process is also aimed at building this national consensus. In an environment where our region has turned into a ring of fire, efforts for a Terror-Free Türkiye have already had a deterrent effect on Turkey's adversaries, strengthened Turkey's power, and blown a new wind in our region. Today, terrorism has come to an end, terrorist attacks have ended, and the terrorist organization has announced its decision to dissolve itself and lay down its weapons.
Thanks to Bahçeli and DEM Party
HE GAVE GREAT SUPPORT: While the historical consensus displayed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly with 467 votes in favor of enacting the framework law made our nation and Turkey's friends happy; There is no doubt that it upset Turkey's enemies as well; disappointed. On behalf of my party, my country and my nation, I would like to thank our People's Alliance partner, MHP Chairman, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, who has given great support to the Terror-Free Turkey process with his astute, determined and courageous stance since the first day. I would like to express my gratitude to the DEM Party Group for their valuable contributions in bringing the process to this day without any accidents or trouble.
WHAT IS NECESSARY TO BE DONE: As stated in the framework law, there is a monitoring process. When the necessary steps are taken, our relevant institutions will do what is necessary. National consensus will gain more meaning. In a terrorism-free, conflict-free environment, it will be much easier and possible to discuss our problems with mutual respect and find solutions. Hopefully, the democratic capacity of politics will become even stronger. I believe that the conditions for Turkey to draft a new, democratic, participatory, libertarian and civil Constitution will become more mature.
'The ideal period for the new constitution'
THIS SHAME MUST BE RID OF: The need for a civilian constitution that rejects the legacy of interventions that divide our experience of democracy into intervals has not yet been met. Türkiye must get rid of this shame. The goal of a new and civilian constitution is a struggle to prove the maturity of Turkish democracy. Our parliament is competent and authorized to make a constitution in every period and under all conditions. However, due to its political diversity, the period we are in is perhaps the most ideal period for a constitutional initiative. This Assembly has demonstrated the robustness of its capacity to negotiate and compromise when it comes to Turkey's national and vital issues. In particular, civil politics, with its '467 hands raising for peace, democracy and brotherhood', has broken down the psychological walls built by tutelage and shattered prejudices.
OUR ATTITUDE IS CLEAR ON THE FIRST 4 ARTICLES: Our attitude regarding the first four articles of the Constitution in force is already clear. Rolling up our sleeves for a new and civil constitution worthy of the Turkish Century is a real test of sincerity for everyone. I see it beneficial for our political parties to take action in accordance with their commitments in order to meet this great longing of our nation.
