A strain of tuberculosis EurA1.1, common in Belarus, has been identified in Russia

In Russia, a strain of tuberculosis EurA1.1, common in Belarus, has been identified. This was reported in a study by scientists from Dublin City University, which was published in an article for the journal npj Antimicrobials and Resistance.

EurA1 is known to be resistant to antibiotics. In addition to Belarus and Russia, it was also found in Germany, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

According to scientists, isolates were found across most of the European continent. They have also been found in distant countries including the United States, Australia, Botswana and Iran. This suggests a geographic distribution of EurA1 around the world.
