After non-party legislator Gao Jin Sumei's "big accountant" Zhang Junjie cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and fled, he was once again involved in a communist espionage case. The prosecutor's investigation revealed that Zhang was suspected of accepting Chinese funds and developing organizations in Taiwan, which may last up to ten years. The Supreme People's Procuratorate recently directed the National Security Protection Division of the Investigation Bureau to interview Chen Zhiqian, director of the National Assembly Office of SAIC, and Lin Yijun, a public assistant at the National Security Council. After the interrogation, they were charged with violating the national security law and other crimes, and the two people were detained in the High Court and approved. As for whether SAIC knew about it or was involved, it still needs to be clarified.

Zhang Jin’s Gaojin team is responsible for China affairs

The investigation found that Zhang Junjie has been responsible for coordinating exchanges with China since he joined Gao Jin Sumei’s congressional team in 2002. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he served as the leader of a hundred-member indigenous ethnic performance group and led the group to Beijing to participate in performances before the opening ceremony. He also participated in organizing a hundred-member Taiwan indigenous delegation to visit Beijing and Yunnan. Over the years, he has continued to travel to cross-strait exchanges with indigenous ethnic groups, and his level of contact spans China’s Taiwan-related and ethnic affairs systems.

The investigation and long-term monitoring of Zhang Junjie found that he was involved in the development of organizations in Taiwan that were absorbed by China. At this stage, Zhang, Chen, and Lin are the main targets of investigation, and they continue to investigate the sources of Chinese funds, flows in Taiwan, organizational development methods, and contacts. Zhang suddenly abandoned bail and absconded two days before the arrest. Whether he had known the news in advance and whether his escape was related to the investigation of the national security case will be investigated together. As for Chen Zhiqian and Lin Yijun, who were detained by the court and were approved by the court, they are also the defendants in Gaojin's case of fraudulently receiving public assistant fees.
