The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan and Turkey called for the implementation of the commitments contained in the first phase of the comprehensive plan regarding Gaza, ensuring the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and early recovery supplies, stressing the need to adhere to the ceasefire and end all violations.
This came during the ministers' meeting in New York, on Sunday, on the sidelines of the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly, where they expressed their deep concern about the continuing human suffering in the Gaza Strip.
The ministers stressed that the road map represents an integral part of the comprehensive plan, and provides a framework for implementing its second phase, which includes restricting weapons in conjunction with the complete Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force, and the National Committee for Gaza Administration assuming its responsibilities throughout the Strip, in addition to the start of early recovery and reconstruction operations.
They stressed the rejection of any measures aimed at expelling or forcibly displacing Palestinians from their homeland, or changing the geographical and demographic character of the occupied Palestinian territory. They also condemned measures aimed at consolidating Israeli control and annexation, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, home demolitions, settler violence, and forced displacement.
The Ministers expressed concern about actions that undermine the historical and legal status quo of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and welcomed the measures taken by the United Kingdom, and broader national and European efforts, in response to Israeli settlement activity, calling for more effective measures to stop settlement expansion and ensure accountability for settler violence.
The ministers stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian Territory, and that the implementation of the comprehensive plan should contribute to the reunification of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, leading to a reliable and irreversible path towards the Palestinian people exercising their right to self-determination and establishing a sovereign, viable and independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of the two-state solution.
The ministers praised the leadership of US President Donald Trump, stressing the pivotal role of the United States in ensuring the implementation of the comprehensive plan, and calling for sustained and effective American engagement to ensure that all parties fulfill their obligations and overcome the obstacles hindering the implementation of the road map.
They renewed their readiness to continue working collectively with the United States, the Peace Council, the Palestinian Authority, and all concerned parties, to push for the full implementation of the comprehensive plan and road map, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, support their right to self-determination and establish their independent state, leading to a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region.
On Tuesday, the Saudi Civil Defense announced that the danger had passed from the Najran region, shortly after an alert was issued through the National Emergency Early Warning Platform, to warn of danger in the region.
The Civil Defense said, through its official account on the “X” platform: “The danger has passed from the Najran region,” calling on residents to continue to follow its instructions, avoid gathering and photographing at all, and contact the emergency number “998” when needed.
Civil Defense had previously announced the launch of an alert from the National Emergency Early Warning Platform in the Najran region, to warn of danger, calling on residents to remain calm and follow official instructions.
According to the instructions he published, he called on residents to immediately go to the nearest safe place, whether inside a building or in an interior room away from windows, and to remain there until the danger passes, and not to leave homes or buildings during the warning period.
He stressed the need to stay away from open spaces, windows and glass, and not to stand on balconies or on the roofs of buildings, explaining that if a person is outside the home, he must enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid curtain.
He also warned against gathering, photographing, and approaching dangerous sites, calling on vehicle drivers, when receiving a warning message while driving, to stop on the side of the road, away from bridges, tunnels, and high-rise buildings.
The Civil Defense stressed the importance of obtaining information from its official sources, warning against the circulation of rumors and clips of unknown origin, and stressing the necessity of following instructions issued by the competent authorities through official channels.
He pointed out that if you notice any danger, you can call the Civil Defense on the number “911” in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Medina, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and on the number “998” in the rest of the regions of the Kingdom.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan intensified his meetings and gatherings in New York, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly in its 81st session, where developments in the Gaza Strip and regional tensions topped the agenda of his discussions, in addition to enhancing cooperation with a number of countries and international partners.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan participated in the coordination meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Eight Arab and Islamic countries, which discussed the serious deterioration of the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and the escalation of violations in the West Bank.
The ministers discussed ways to unify efforts and positions, which would contribute to mobilizing international support to protect the Palestinian people and support the Palestinian cause in international forums.
In the context of diplomatic moves to contain the region's crises, the Saudi Foreign Minister participated in the sixth meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Regional Quartet, along with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
The meeting discussed developments in the regional situation and ways to enhance coordination between the four countries to reduce tensions, while emphasizing the importance of intensifying consultation and continuing diplomatic efforts to limit the repercussions of the region’s crises and maintain its security and stability.
At the level of bilateral relations, Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Pakistani counterpart, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and they reviewed the cooperation relations between the two countries, in addition to the latest developments in the regional situation and efforts aimed at containing tensions through diplomatic solutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement for mutual exemption from short-stay visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and private passports, with the aim of facilitating procedures, raising the level of coordination, and expanding areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also participated in the ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and France, which dealt with developments in the regional situation and their repercussions on security and stability, and discussed aspects of cooperation and joint coordination in facing the current challenges, as well as the most prominent files raised during the work of the General Assembly.
In another ministerial meeting between the GCC countries and Switzerland, Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed with the participants a number of issues of common interest, aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two sides and ways to enhance them to serve common interests.
As part of his meetings in New York, the Saudi Foreign Minister met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, where the two sides reviewed aspects of joint cooperation and discussed opportunities to expand it in the fields of innovation and modern technologies.
