Paul Lawrence Lim, the defense lawyer for the Vice President of the Philippines, confirmed the bail payment and noted that the police did not arrest Duterte-Carpio because she went directly to court. After depositing the amount, the arrest warrant was cancelled.

On Friday, the Quezon City Court issued an arrest warrant for Duterte-Carpio based on the Philippine Department of Justice, in early August, charging the Vice President with three counts of threatening to kill, when she publicly stated that she had hired someone to get rid of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife Lisa Araneta Marcos, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Martin Romualdez, in the event of a supposed assassination attempt against her personally succeeding.

The Public Prosecution recommended setting bail at 120,000 pesos ($2.1,000) for each charge.

For its part, the Duterte-Carpio defense filed a motion to dismiss the charges, citing issues related to jurisdiction and procedural immunity in accordance with the protection of certain officials under the Constitution. The Vice President had previously stated that her words were "maliciously taken out of context" and that her statements about the assassination were only intended to highlight the threat to her personal safety. Meanwhile, the court previously dismissed charges of incitement to rebellion related to the same incident.
