Edwin Arrieta's family has not yet received the 106,000 euro compensation imposed on Daniel Sancho

Juango Ospina, the lawyer for Edwin Arrieta's family, has reported on *El verano se mueve* that the loved ones of the Colombian surgeon have not yet received a single euro of the compensation imposed on Daniel Sancho, which is close to 106,000 euros. The financial reparation remains pending while the legal proceedings face another decisive juncture in Thailand: there, the parties are awaiting the resolution of the appeals against the life sentence.

"They have not yet received any money ordered by the court, and it is something that has been awaited for years," the lawyer explained during a live cross with the Telecinco program. The expectations of collecting the compensation are also slim, judging by the interviewee's words: "We know that Daniel Sancho is insolvent and that receiving this money was going to be an impossible task. As was known, absolutely nothing has been received. Rather than focusing on that issue—the financial aspect—they have considered it a lost cause from day one."

There is, however, a boundary that the amount set by the court cannot cross. Ospina drew a distinction between the personal harm caused by Edwin's death and the financial consequences left in its wake. "It will not ease the pain, but it can repair the financial situation the family has found themselves in," he pointed out.

The 106,000 euros are not, in any case, what has the Arrieta family on edge. "They are hoping that the life sentence is upheld and that Daniel Sancho's transfer to Spain happens as late as possible," Ospina noted.
