The Russian Emergency Situations Directorate for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic denied information about a rockfall and confirmed that an avalanche occurred.

Three victims were evacuated to Nalchik, the fate of ten climbers remains unknown, two groups of rescuers were sent to search.

MOSCOW, September 6 - RIA Novosti. Information about a rockfall in the mountains of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, where climbers died, has not been confirmed, RIA Novosti was told by the Russian Main Emergency Situations Directorate for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

Earlier on Sunday, the Russian Emergency Situations Directorate for the republic reported that an avalanche covered a group of climbers in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria, two people died, three were injured, and ten more were caught in the avalanche. Some media reported that there was supposedly a strong rockfall on the climbers’ route.
