Fenerbahçe Made a Statement Regarding the Gençlerbirliği Match Incident

Fenerbahçe Club made a statement regarding the attempt to remove the jersey of a Fenerbahçe child during the match against Gençlerbirliği in the first week of the Trendyol Super League. In the statement of the yellow-dark blue club, the following statements were used: "Our little fan Göktuğ Alımcı and his father Selami Alımcı, who were reacted in the stands on the grounds that they were wearing a Fenerbahçe jersey during the Gençlerbirliği match we played yesterday, were contacted by the board members of our club. We will host Göktuğ and his family in the Olympic Lyon match we will play on Tuesday, and we will host our little fan with the warmth of the Fenerbahçe family. They showed common sense and constructive approach during the incident. We also thank our police officers who intervened in the situation and stood by Göktuğ and his family. We find it unacceptable that a child would face reactions just for carrying the jersey of the team he loves; we strongly condemn this behavior, which is in no way compatible with the unifying spirit of sports and the understanding of true fandom. The love of children for their teams, the excitement they experience and their devotion to their colors should be respected under all circumstances. Together, we protect a sports culture where children can experience the joy of football in the stands without fear. It is the responsibility of all of us."
