Public offices, shopping malls and Justice bodies have altered operations due to the holiday celebrating Brazil's Independence.

The Independence Day holiday changes the operation of several services in João Pessoa this Monday (7). The capital's shopping malls operate normally.

Bank branches close this Monday (7) and reopen on Tuesday (8). Commerce can now operate following collective rules.

VLTs, public offices and Arruda Câmara and Jardim Botânico parks do not operate. There will only be a shift for urgent cases at the Electoral Court.

Brazil's independence is celebrated this Monday (7) and the date is considered a national holiday. As a result, some establishments and services operate with altered opening hours. In João Pessoa, shopping malls must open, while bank branches and public offices do not operate.

The traditional parade on September 7th starts at 8am, on Avenida Duarte da Silveira, in the center of João Pessoa. The parades in the neighborhoods will begin this Sunday (6) and continue until September 26.

🛍️ Shopping malls

📍Manaíra Shopping and Mangabeira Shopping

The Mangabeira and Manaíra shopping malls have their opening hours maintained, from 10am to 10pm. However, some third-party services have different opening hours or will be closed.

📍Tambiá Shopping Mall

The Tambiá shopping mall remains open this Monday (7). The cinema operates according to session times.

📍Mag Shopping

At Mag Shopping, stores and kiosks must be open from 1 pm to 9 pm. The food court is open from 11:30 am to 10 pm and the cinema is open from 1 pm to 10 pm.

📍Shopping Sebrae

At Shopping Sebrae, stores open from 11am to 8pm. The food court is open from 12pm to 8pm.

📍Liv Mall

Liv Mall is open from 1pm to 9pm. The food court is open from 12pm to 10pm.

🏦 Banks

According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), banks will be closed this Monday (7). Operations via Pix remain available 24 hours a day. Service at branches will resume on Tuesday (8).

🛍️ Commerce

Commercial companies in João Pessoa can operate normally, as long as they follow the rules of the current collective labor agreement.

Workers scheduled to work on the holiday are entitled to a daily allowance of R$67, in addition to the transportation voucher for the day and compensatory time off, according to the João Pessoa Trade Union.

🚉 VLTs

The capital's Light Rail Vehicles (VLTs) will not operate this Monday (7). Operations return to normal on Tuesday (8), from 4:30 am to 7:20 pm.

🚌 Bus

Until the publication of this report, the operating times for public transport buses in João Pessoa on the holiday had not been published.

⚖️Justice

There will be no office hours at the Paraíba Court of Justice this Monday (7). The Regional Electoral Court has judicial duty, only for urgent cases.

The Public Ministry of Labor does not have office hours in the units this Monday (7). Reports can be made through online channels.

🏢 Public offices

Municipal public offices in João Pessoa and state offices will not operate this Monday (7).

✉️ Post Office

Agencies are closed this Monday (7). Operations resume on Tuesday (8).

🌳 Parks

The Arruda Câmara Zoobotanical Park is open from 9am to 4pm. Tickets cost R$3 and can be purchased online or at the box office.

Botanical Garden

The Benjamin Maranhão Botanical Garden will be closed this Monday (7). The park is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 4pm. Entry is free.
