Fiesp mobilizes business entities to manifest against institutional crisis in the STF

While various segments of the business community are discussing the idea of ​​speaking out publicly to ask the STF (Supreme Federal Court) for decorum and expressing concern about the institutional crisis arising from the Banco Master scandal, Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) began calling on employer unions and sectoral associations to sign a petition.

The entity already has a draft of the text, which says that the Republic faces an unprecedented test of integrity and that the crises in Brasília put institutions at risk. The demonstration must ask the Court's plenary to speak out and discuss the problem.

ACSP (São Paulo Commercial Association) is also working on the manifesto and says it has reached more than a thousand signatures from commercial associations and federations. Among those who have already signed the document are also entities such as Sindibrinquedos (from the toy industry) and Abinee (electrical and electronics industry).

The CNI (National Confederation of Industry) and Anfavea (automotive industry) also say they will join.

The idea is to publish the text this week, between the 8th and 10th. Organizers of the manifesto interviewed by Folha say they decided not to publish the document on the September 7th holiday to avoid interpretations that the movement intends to make political use of the crisis during the election period.

Among the entities being approached to sign the manifesto are sectors of industry, commerce, agribusiness, transport and cooperatives. But among the potential signatories there are those who are afraid of entering into controversies and accusations of partisanship of Fiesp, as has happened on other occasions.

In 2022, when Fiesp was chaired by Josué Gomes da Silva, the entity faced a deep crisis, with an attempt to remove Josué by opponents who accused him of being linked to the PT. Josué is the son of José Alencar (1931-2011), who was Lula's vice president between 2003 and 2010.

One of the reasons for the conflict was precisely a manifesto that extolled the role of the Judiciary in defending democracy.

Skaf was president of Fiesp from 2004 to 2021 and returned to the post in 2026 with a more comprehensive positioning, addressing topics beyond the industry's borders. In recent months, he has spoken out in debates on public security, invited the Minister of Public Security and Justice of El Salvador to a seminar at the entity and praised the country's president, Nayib Bukele.

Before taking office, he announced the creation of senior councils at Fiesp with names that participated in the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro, such as former ministers Sergio Moro and Joaquim Alvaro Pereira Leite, but denied political bias.

According to organizers, the manifesto being prepared intends to position itself as an expression of civil society concerned about the worsening of the institutional crisis, which advances every day.

Last week, the alert grew after the revelation of messages exchanged between former banker Daniel Vorcaro and STF minister Alexandre de Moraes, in addition to the reaction of the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, who requested the annulment of the Federal Police report.
