Sultans of the Net are European Champions

The Sultans of the Net are once again the greatest in Europe. Türkiye won its second consecutive European championship by beating world number 1 Italy 3-2 after a magnificent 5-set match in the final played in Istanbul. The guest team played very effectively under the leadership of Egonu in the first set and took the lead 1-0 with 25-16. Showing their quality in the 2nd set, Sultans won this part 25-22 with Vargas' points and Derya's contributions and brought the score to 1-1. In the 3rd set, Italy had the wind again and we fell behind 25-12, 2-1.

Then, with Eda stepping in, we reached 8-4 and took full control. After increasing the difference to 5 with 13-8, we won the set 15-10 and the match 3-2. The most effective name in our team was again Vargas, who played with 28 points. Zehra contributed 12 points. Egonu also scored 28 points in Italy. Serbia beat Poland 3-1 and ranked third in Europe.
