End of the heatwave: return of storms and drop in temperatures this weekend

After several days of heatwave, storms return on Friday to the hills before reaching a large part of the southern half on Saturday. The heat dome will finally retract towards central Europe, while more breathable air will arrive via the English Channel, putting an end to the 5th heatwave episode, forecasts La Chaîne Météo*.

On Saturday, the atmosphere will be hot and unstable. Thunderstorms are expected to develop from the Pyrenees to the Paris basin. The heatwave will persist in the eastern regions, while temperatures will be more pleasant near the Channel. This cooler air will progress during the day towards the Loire and the Paris basin. “A drop in temperatures is expected gradually over the western half of the country,” announced Friday. Minimum temperatures will vary between 15 and 25°C and maximums between 27 and 39°C, from west to east.

On Sunday, showers and thunderstorms could affect a majority of regions, from the southwest to the center-east, with the arrival of an Atlantic disturbance. The Mediterranean coast and Corsica should remain somewhat on the fringes of this deterioration, with persistent high heat. In the northwest, the sun persists but it is significantly less hot with the return of a real classic summer atmosphere and breathable temperatures, although still above seasonal norms.
