UAE Prosecutor General Hamad Seif Al-Shamsi has ordered an investigation into the incident with Flydubai flight FZ1073, including for possible links to terrorist activities.

The investigation team began work in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and other relevant authorities in the UAE.

The Prosecutor General called on the public to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information about the incident until the investigation is completed.

DUBAI, October 1 - RIA Novosti. The UAE Attorney General has ordered an investigation into the incident with the Flydubai flight, including for possible links to “terrorist activities,” the UAE state news agency WAM reports.

“Prosecutor General Hamad Seif Al-Shamsi ordered the formation of an investigation team from specialists from the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate the incident with Flydubai flight FZ1073,” the agency said in a statement.

According to the report, the investigation team has begun work in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and other relevant authorities in the UAE. The Attorney General has ordered that all necessary measures be taken to gather information and evidence, determine the facts, circumstances and motives of the incident, and to determine whether it was related to any terrorist activity or purpose, and whether there was prior planning or direction, the agency stressed.

The Prosecutor General confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and called on the public to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information about the incident until the competent authorities complete the collection and verification of facts.

"It is worth noting that the UAE judiciary is responsible for investigating the incident in accordance with applicable law, since the aircraft was registered in the country and was flying its flag. This means that UAE law applies to crimes committed on board, even if they occurred outside the country's territory," the statement said.
