France ready to transfer documentation on the Ustica massacre to Italy

France would be ready to transfer to Italy all the documentation relating to the Ustica massacre, which claimed the lives of 81 people on the DC-9 Itavia which crashed into the Tyrrhenian Sea on the evening of 27 June 1980. The documents in question cover a long period, up to the early 1990s, and among these there are also those from the French Ministry of Defense which could refer to the letters rogatory sent by the Rome prosecutor's office at the time.

France willing to accommodate further requests

In the note from the French embassy sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and transmitted through the Presidency of the Council to the Ministry of Justice and in turn to the Rome prosecutor's office, the willingness to comply with further requests should they arrive.

The news arrives on the eve of the new hearing to oppose the dismissal before the investigating judge, scheduled for next Wednesday 30 September, and on that occasion the Rome prosecutor's office would be ready to withdraw a request for dismissal which concerned two consolidated files opened in 2008 and 2022 by the prosecutors of Piazzale Clodio, both against unknown persons.
