Work Accident in Tunnel Construction in Gaziantep: 1 Worker Lost His Life

One of the two workers injured in a work accident in the construction of the Dülük-OSB Tunnel, which was built to ease urban traffic in Gaziantep, died.

According to the news in AA, a work accident occurred as a result of the stretching of the iron scaffolding in the tunnel construction near the central Sam District.

Upon notice, many ambulances, fire brigade, search and rescue and police teams were dispatched to the scene. One of the two workers injured in the accident died in the hospital where he was taken.

In the written statement made by Gaziantep Governorship, it was stated that a work accident occurred as a result of the stretching of the iron scaffolding used to fix the concrete in the tunnel construction.

In the statement, it was stated that AFAD, UMKE and medical teams responded quickly and in a coordinated manner following the incident, and the following was noted:

"While one of our employees got out of the tunnel with his own means, the other employee was taken out with serious injuries as a result of the work of AFAD and UMKE teams and was handed over to the medical teams. Our injured employee was transferred to the hospital and passed away despite all interventions. There was no collapse in the tunnel, only our workers were stuck between the iron and scaffolding as a result of the stretching of the irons used to fix the concrete."

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, on the social media platform of the US-based company X, stated that there was no collapse or slippage in the tunnel and shared that the issue was being followed closely.
