Geely Auto: record sales in the first half and change at the top

Geely Auto, the Chinese group known for the Geely, Lynk & Co and Zeekr brands, closes the first half of the year with record sales of more than 1.42 million vehicles and renews its top management. The current president (and controlling shareholder) Eric Li resigns and becomes honorary president for life, with Andy An appointed chairman of the board and Jerry Gan CEO.

On the financial front, revenues exceeded 170 billion renminbi for the first time (+15% to 173.6 billion), the core profit attributable to the shareholders of the parent company grew by 46% to 9.68 billion and as of June 30, available resources amounted to 69.56 billion renminbi.

Exports to markets outside China reached 474,000 units (+158%) and raised the export target for 2026 from 640,000 to 920,000 units, with the ambition of approaching one million units for the full year.

Europe and new energy vehicles (such as hybrid and electric) have confirmed themselves as two key directions of global expansion; in the half-year - a note recalls - the brand entered seven European markets and entered into partnerships with Volvo Cars, Proton, Renault Group and Ford in local production, research and development and supply chain activities. Geely has also brought together its engineering teams in Sweden and Germany to shorten product launch times between China and global markets. The group is today present in 114 international markets, with a sales and assistance network that exceeds 2,000 points. “In the second half of 2026, the group plans to redefine the market for C-segment electric sports sedans equipped with artificial intelligence with Geely TT and enter the pure off-road segment with Geely Zhanjian 700. In parallel it will accelerate the electrification of the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) range through advanced HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technologies, aiming to exceed 30,000 i-HEV units sold per month by the end of the year and to reach one million units per year for the Geely ICE range, laying the foundations for the international launch of i-HEVs in 2027.
