Grafing's mayor Christian Bauer died suddenly

The mayor of Grafing near Munich, Christian Bauer, collapsed during a meeting in the town hall and died shortly afterwards. As a city employee said, Bauer was treated by emergency services in the town hall on Tuesday evening and taken to a hospital. But he could no longer be saved. Several media outlets reported on the death.

The CSU politician, born in 1969, has been the first mayor of the small town in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg since 2020. Previously, the graduate in administration was city treasurer in Grafing for more than two decades. It was only in March that Bauer was confirmed in office in the local elections with almost 61 percent of the vote.

According to the town hall employee, it must first be clarified what will happen to the administration after the sudden death of the town hall boss. In Grafing there are two other mayors who, as deputies, initially have to carry out official business in the municipality with a population of almost 14,000. A new first mayor must then be chosen in an early election.
