War in Yemen and Iran: the Houthis conquer the Red Sea coast

The US president refused and it seems that, at the moment, the American administration does not plan to intervene directly against the Houthis, although it can provide Saudi Arabia with intelligence information and data to identify targets. According to Al Jazeera, the Houthis have conquered the last stretch of the Yemeni coast on the Red Sea, completing an offensive that lasted 18 hours which guarantees them full control of the entire Red Sea coast.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman twice called US President Donald Trump yesterday, urging him to launch attacks against the Houthis, at the same time as the Iran-backed group captured the Red Sea port city of Mocha. Axios writes this quoting two US officials. Trump refused, and the officials stressed that the administration currently has no plans to take direct action against the Houthis, but one of them added that the administration will provide Saudi Arabia with intelligence information on the Houthis and targeting data.

Meanwhile, the Houthis themselves have conquered the last stretch of the Yemeni coast on the Red Sea, completing an offensive that lasted 18 hours which guarantees them full control of the entire Red Sea coast. This was reported by al Jazeera field correspondents.

Gulf foreign ministers are reportedly planning to meet their Iranian counterparts in a bid to gain consensus on a temporary agreement on the management of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
