Two tragic accidents in Binh Thuan and Lam Dong

Mr. Tran Son Kiet, 30 years old, was shoveling soil and rocks on Highway 1 when he was hit and killed by a car traveling north-south on the afternoon of September 5.

At around 1:30 p.m., Mr. Kiet and a group of workers maintained Highway 1, the section passing Duc Hoa village, Ham Thuan commune. While he was shoveling dirt and rocks on Ong Tam bridge, a car with a Hanoi license plate driven by Le Hong Phuc, 29 years old, from Dak Lak, heading towards Khanh Hoa to Dong Nai, rushed in and hit him.

The impact caused Mr. Kiet to be thrown toward the sidewalk. Nearby colleagues ran to give first aid and called a car to take the victim to Binh Thuan General Hospital, but he did not survive.

The victim is a worker at Saigon Infrastructure Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, which is maintaining Highway 1 through the Ham Thuan area.

At the time of the accident, there were two people in the car. The police's initial assessment was that the driver was not paying attention, leading to the accident. Test results showed that Phuc had an alcohol concentration of 0.023 mg/l of breath, negative for drugs.

At the scene, the car that caused the accident had a dented front and broken windshield. The area where the group of workers is working has a warning cone placed.

The police examined the scene, the body, extracted area cameras, and took statements from the driver and related people.

Also in Lam Dong, around 11:30, Mr. Nguyen Canh Quy, 43 years old, and a man came to dismantle and relocate the gate of a house in alley 96 To Huu street, B'Lao ward. The two people drilled and chiseled the base of the concrete pillar, then Mr. Quy used a welding machine to cut the connection between the iron fence and the gate pillar.

As soon as the joint was separated, the concrete pillar suddenly fell towards the two people. The co-worker used his hand to support the pillar and then promptly dodged to the side. Mr. Quy ran toward the street but tripped and fell and was crushed by a concrete pillar.

People took the victim to Lam Dong II Hospital for emergency treatment, but Mr. Quy later died from serious injuries.
