2 more HÜRKUŞ were delivered to the Air Force

A new delivery step has been completed in the HÜRKUŞ project. The Presidency of Defense Industries and the Air Forces Command have completed the acceptance procedures for 2 of the new generation basic training aircraft. Thus, the number of aircraft in the Air Force inventory increased to 4.

President of Defense Industries Prof. shared the development on his social media account. Dr. Haluk Görgün announced. Görgün said deliveries are continuing as planned. He also emphasized that planes will train future pilots.

Where Does HÜRKUŞ Stand in the Pilot Training Chain?

HÜRKUŞ is Türkiye's first domestic and national manned military training aircraft. Moreover, the project was developed under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries. The main contractor was TAI.

The aircraft will be used in basic flight training for pilot candidates. For this reason, it is considered the first step of the pilot training chain. The chain continues with HÜRJET, which is used for advanced jet training. Then comes the national combat aircraft KAAN.

Görgün had also touched upon the role of aircraft in a previous statement. According to him, the planes will teach young people how to spread their wings on a platform produced by Turkish engineering. Additionally, Görgün described the aircraft as agile and best-in-class, equipped with advanced avionics and software.

Contribution of the Native Ecosystem

Domestic defense industry companies played a broad role in the project. For example, some systems on the platform are as follows:

ASELSAN: avionic systems TASECS: air conditioning solution HAVELSAN: digital video recording system KAREL: spare flight instruments TAI, ANDAR and TAAC: flight and control systems

Görgün also touched upon the scale in the defense industry. Because more than 4,500 companies in the ecosystem are carrying out more than 1,500 projects simultaneously. Moreover, as with HÜRKUŞ, mass production has begun in hundreds of projects ranging from air defense systems to military aviation.

Görgün also stated that a fully independent defense industry is being built step by step under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In addition, he thanked the Presidency of Defense Industries personnel, TAI teams and subcontractor companies who took part in the project.

HÜRKUŞ deliveries are planned to continue gradually in line with the program schedule. Therefore, the number of aircraft in the inventory is expected to increase in the coming period.
