TEKNOFEST is the aviation and technology festival organized with the vision of Türkiye's national technology move. HAVELSAN is a public subsidiary operating in the field of defense industry and technology.
Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST), organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation, with Anadolu Agency (AA) as the "Global Communication Partner", continues at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
Nacar made evaluations to the AA correspondent about the work carried out by the company in the festival area.
Referring to the cooperation protocol signed by HAVELSAN with the Governorship of Şanlıurfa the day before, Nacar said:
"First of all, I would like to express my satisfaction for signing this contract and this protocol with the Governorship of Şanlıurfa at Şanlıurfa TEKNOFEST. Within the scope of the artificial intelligence-supported early warning system protocol, it was planned to establish an early warning system to use our artificial intelligence product EYEMINER in the safety of schools. We started the first pilot application of this in a school in the center of Şanlıurfa. I wish the project to be beneficial. Within the scope of this project, with the artificial intelligence video analysis system, it is possible to detect risky situations that may occur in schools in advance and ensure the relevant security. "Pre-warning the units, automatically detecting suspicious behavior and warning authorized personnel in this sense are the main topics to be evaluated within the scope of this project."
"It is very meaningful to organize TEKNOFEST in Şanlıurfa"
Touching on the importance of TEKNOFEST Southeast, HAVELSAN General Manager Nacar said that Şanlıurfa is one of the provinces with the highest school-age young population and that he found it very meaningful to organize the event in this city.
Nacar stated that in the process that started with the Harran School in the ancient history of Şanlıurfa, important scholars such as Sabit bin Kurra, El Battani and Cabir bin Hayyam, who worked in fields such as astronomy, mathematics and medicine in 744 and whose works were translated into foreign languages, were educated and said, "The footprints of this are actually from the roots to the skies. We need to throw away these ashes and reveal a potential that can meet with new technologies and shape the future. The 15th of TEKNOFEST is "It is held in Şanlıurfa, the pearl of the Southeast. This is also very important for our ancient culture." he said.
Stating that the first findings from the neolithic age 12 thousand years ago, discovered in Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe, show that Şanlıurfa is home to points that shed light on the course of history, Nacar said, "Many civilizations have lived, many prophets have come, it is the land of prophets. When we integrate these aspects, TEKNOFEST actually sits at a very meaningful point with complete technological independence in the period of Türkiye's full independence, in the period of the Turkish Century." he said.
170 thousand people attended TEKNOFEST on the first day
Mehmet Akif Nacar shared that they thought the interest in TEKNOFEST was very good and there was a participation of 170 thousand people on the first day, and said, "It is a lively area. A very nice compact area was built. In this sense, we express our gratitude to T3 Foundation and Selçuk Bayraktar for their leadership. It is the 15th TEKNOFEST, but the excitement is as on the first day. I can say that. Everyone comes here with these feelings. It also becomes a habit." he said.
Pointing out that TEKNOFEST, which set out with the late Özdemir Bayraktar's dream of "Let a child come and touch a plane", has turned into a big family by organizing its 15th edition this year, Nacar said, "Thousands, hundreds of thousands of participants, competitors, volunteers... It is a huge, important synergy that a total of 157 institutions and organizations focus and run on the same goal for children and young people across Turkey." he said.
Recalling that 550 thousand people attended the first TEKNOFEST held in 2018, Nacar said, "Today, I think we can host more than 1 million visitors with participants from Şanlıurfa and surrounding provinces and the Southeastern provinces. This favor and interest shows the importance and value our people attach to national technology and engineering. We have always given importance to engineering and the war industry in history. We have also been strong as a country in the periods when we were strong. Therefore, in this sense, our young people's social "In this sense, it is really important for the media to focus on new horizons in areas such as defense industry, engineering, technology, etc., without focusing their attention and interest on different areas in different channels." he said.
"Engineer Child on the Road" project
Stating that HAVELSAN also took part in TEKNOFEST competitions such as swarm UAV, mixed swarm, robo-taxi, passenger autonomous vehicle, HAVELSAN General Manager Nacar said:
"This year, too, HackMaster is under the coordination of the Cyber Security Directorate, and our teams are supporting the competition there. Again, we have workshops that we exhibited at the HAVELSAN stand, there are autonomous vehicles that we exhibited in the Land Forces tent, and we see that our unmanned ground vehicle BARKAN is used in the commando exercise. We want to 'Let's put a brick in this structure' as much as we can in every field, and that's why we participated and came to the field with a large team and our friends. I hope it will be a good festival for 5 days." We hope."
Nacar also touched upon the Engineer Child on the Road project, which he developed with the reflex of touching more people at TEKNOFEST, and made the following statements about the project:
"They dressed up a minibus called 'Engineer Child is on the Road'. Our teammates all went together. It reached disadvantaged children who could come here or those who could not, villages, and more than 600 students in a week. It is important to touch here. With technology, you know, social media, you can reach thousands, hundreds of thousands of people through different means, but that child cannot reach a device or an engineer and cannot see the output of the exact product. We know that it is not easy to do this when you say 'take, do' something he sees on social media. Therefore, this experience is important. Our aim is to make them touch something, to light a spark. In this area, hopefully it will be a small step for us in their memory, but maybe it will be an important point in their future."
Air defense systems are explained to children with Sky Guardians
Explaining that they created the "Sky Guardians" game to explain the working logic of air defense systems to children at the event, Mehmet Akif Nacar said, "It's a bit of a game. This time, we decided to use serious game technology. We named it 'Sky Guardians'. In order to give our students and young people a bit of a gaming experience, the integration of air defense systems, such as the Peace Eagle Early Warning Aircraft, early warning radars, air defense systems such as SİPER, HİSAR, provided a software game environment where all these are integrated." "The aim here is to give them an idea about layered airspace and to enable them to generate ideas in this direction." made his assessment.
Nacar pointed out that TEKNOFEST aims to spark a spark in children's minds about technology and concluded his words as follows:
"Our aim is to physically instill this contact, this R&D culture, the vision and the spirit of engineering in more young people and children. We want them to turn to these fields... to give them a taste that this job is not difficult, that they can do something themselves and produce very valuable ideas. We are sure that the next generation will go to better points than us. Because if we have reached this point by working in this way in a more deprived period, without this technical infrastructure, hopefully they will go much higher from this point, into space, "I think they will achieve much more important things until they reach the depths of space and the Moon missions. We want to pave the way for them to do more qualified work at an earlier age by giving a little direction to their minds, those fresh minds."
