Man charged with killing 18-year-old in Januária after claiming to have heard voices

On August 27, the young woman was found lying at the back of a residence, with several injuries, mainly to her head. The injuries were consistent with the use of a blunt object.

A man was charged in Januária for killing an 18-year-old girl. He claimed to have heard voices and associated the victim with his ex-partner.

The victim was found with head injuries on Thursday (27). The following day, the man was arrested red-handed.

According to the Civil Police, the suspect attacked the young woman with a rock after negotiating a chainsaw in the residence.

The investigation gathered images from security cameras and witness statements.

On August 27, the young woman was found lying at the back of a residence, with several injuries, mainly to her head. The injuries were consistent with the use of a blunt object. The man, who was arrested in the act the day after the murder, remains in prison.

"To the police, the man claimed to have consumed alcoholic beverages, which is why he began to hear voices that encouraged him to kill the victim. He also reported that he had associated the young woman's image with his ex-partner, for whom he claimed to have feelings of hatred."

Investigations showed that the man went to the young woman's house to negotiate a chainsaw. He left the property, but returned shortly afterwards. With a stone that was in the residence, he hit the victim in the head.

"In addition to the expert examinations, the investigation gathered testimonies from witnesses and images from security cameras. The records, obtained by the Military Police, show the person being investigated leaving the victim's house close to the time she was killed."

The investigation was sent to the Court.

About the crime

On the 27th of this month, a 15-year-old teenager found her 18-year-old sister dead in Januária.

According to information from the Military Police, the young woman was lying at the back of a residence, in the Teixeira Bastos neighborhood.

The victim had a depressed skull and an injury compatible with a sharp object. The case was registered as a homicide.

After finding her sister dead, the teenager called neighbors and the police.
