Man arrested on suspicion of torturing ex-partner and threatening to kill son in Resende

According to the Civil Police, the woman received messages and audios with death threats after refusing to resume a 17-year relationship.

A man was arrested red-handed this Tuesday (1) in Resende (RJ). He is suspected of torture against his ex-partner in the context of domestic violence.

The victim reported that she suffered psychological violence and left home in July. The ex-partner demanded to get back together and threatened to kill the couple's 14-year-old son.

To intimidate the woman, the man sent photos of weapons and the teenager via WhatsApp. He also threatened to cause a traffic accident with his son.

Police arrested the suspect in the Vila Nossa Senhora de Fátima neighborhood. At the police station, he admitted sending the messages and claimed regret for the threats.

According to the Civil Police, the victim reported having received death threats against her and the couple's 14-year-old son.

Still according to the corporation, the woman went to the Resende police station and presented screenshots, messages and audios sent by her ex-partner. She said she had a relationship with the man for around 17 years and left the house in July this year, claiming to have suffered psychological violence.

The Civil Police also reported that after the victim informed that she did not intend to resume the relationship, the man continued trying to intimidate her. Since August 29 of this year, he would have sent messages saying that, if she did not return by September 15, he would take the couple's son and kill him.

In the early hours of this Tuesday (1st), according to the report, the suspect sent a photograph of the teenager accompanied by the message: "Keep it as a souvenir, do you think I don't have the courage?" He also allegedly sent an audio threatening to cause a traffic accident to kill himself and his son.

The corporation also reported that in a statement to agents, the victim stated that his ex-partner had been sharing photographs of the teenager, content related to the loss of children and images of firearms via WhatsApp, insinuating that he was armed.

After the report, the civil police officers went to the suspect's address in the Vila Nossa Senhora de Fátima neighborhood, and took him to the police station.

According to the Civil Police, in testimony, the man admitted to having sent the audios, but stated that he was angry at the time and that he would not be capable of harming his son. He said he still regrets it.

The suspect remained detained in the act at the Resende police station, where the case was registered as torture in the context of domestic and family violence.

The Civil Police continues to investigate the case and must analyze the messages, audios, photographs and other digital elements presented by the victim.

The corporation also informed that it was also requested that the case be forwarded for analysis of urgent protective measures
