Man dies after exchange of gunfire during police operation in Benedito Bentes, in Maceió

According to the Military Police, upon noticing the presence of the garrison, the suspect shot at the soldiers, who retaliated. There is no information about injured police officers. Marijuana, cocaine, as well as a .380 caliber pistol, were seized from the suspect.

The man was rescued and taken to the State General Hospital (HGE), in the Trapiche da Barra neighborhood, but he succumbed to his injuries and died.

A police officer from the PM's Shock Policing Company, who preferred not to be identified, reported that the operation began after a complaint made by a motorcycle courier.

The motorcyclist reported to the police that criminals were approaching vehicles to find out if the people circulating in the area were residents of the region.

"When we arrived, there were three individuals trafficking drugs. The garrison disembarked and was met with gunfire. Two armed men, with revolvers, ran out. The one [who died] had a pistol and shot around 10 times at the garrison," said the soldier.
