Huawei Mate XT2 price exceeded the 5,000 Euro limit

Huawei's new three-fold foldable smartphone, Huawei Mate XT2, made a great impact on a global scale after its launch in the Chinese market. Although there is no official sale of the device outside of China, the price of the device has risen above 5,000 Euros through import transactions through various intermediary institutions, revealing a very high cost table compared to Apple's new iPhone Duo model.

Mate XT2 Offers an Innovative Design

Huawei Mate XT2 comes with a new U- or G-shaped hinge structure that folds completely inwards, unlike the Z-shaped folding mechanism seen in previous models. This design choice allows the device to have an external screen of approximately 6.5 inches when closed and a large internal screen of 10.2 inches when opened. This mechanism, which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold in the technology world, aims to offer the user the tablet experience in phone form.

The device, which goes on sale in the Chinese domestic market with a starting price of 19,999 yuan, reaches 24,999 yuan in versions with 1 TB storage capacity and privacy screen. However, costs increase significantly for imports from regions such as Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. Prices for products listed on platforms such as Trinity Electronics and AverageDad range between 4,000 Euros and 5,000 Euros for 1 TB models. These figures indicate a cost much higher than other upper segment foldable phones on the market.

Users Encounter Technical Obstacles

Besides the high price, there are also some practical difficulties awaiting Huawei Mate XT2 users. The lack of Google Mobile Services (GMS) on the device forces users to use alternative methods such as microG to access the Play Store. Additionally, the lack of Android Auto or Wear OS support and the lack of eSIM feature stand out as significant disadvantages for users in the global market. The fact that warranty and technical support processes are also uncertain in the gray market creates a risk factor for potential buyers.

Competition Conditions in the Market Are Changing

While Apple's iPhone Duo model has a starting price of around 2,300 Euros, Samsung's foldable solutions are below Huawei's import prices. This shows that the Mate XT2 is positioned as not just a phone, but a high-cost and hard-to-reach status symbol. The device, offered in black, white and purple color options, requires serious adaptation processes in daily use despite the hardware innovations it offers.
