U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers may arrest illegal immigrants at polling places on November 3.

Arrests will be made based on intelligence and when there is a credible threat to public safety.

ICE's powers apply to illegal aliens, not U.S. citizens, who can only be arrested for assaulting government officials or interfering with a law enforcement operation.

WASHINGTON, September 10 - RIA Novosti. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers may arrest illegal immigrants at polling stations during the November 3 congressional elections, the Department of Homeland Security told RIA Novosti.

"ICE does not plan operations targeting polling places. ICE conducts targeted enforcement activities based on incoming intelligence. And if there is a credible threat to public safety at a polling place, those posing that threat may be arrested as part of those activities," the agency said in response to the agency's request.

They recalled the position of the ministry’s leadership that if a person is not a US citizen, he should not vote, which means he has no need to be present at the polling station.

ICE's authority relates to the enforcement of immigration laws, that is, it extends to illegal aliens, but not to citizens. The latter can only be arrested by service officers for assaulting government officials or interfering with and obstructing a law enforcement operation.
