Valery Kistanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Center for Japanese Studies at the Institute of China and Modern Asia (ICSA) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated this in an interview with Lenta.ru.

“Russia and China are increasingly coming together on issues of ideology. For example, we stand together against the new militarization of Japan,” the researcher emphasized.

As an example, Kistanov recalled the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Kuril Islands in August of this year. Japan was also outraged by the visit, but China supported the visit of the Russian leader, calling on Tokyo to learn the lessons of World War II. The orientalist added that Putin's trip is also related to the issue of memory of World War II in Asia.
