The Moldovan authorities have denied statements by the Norwegian Prime Minister that Vladimir Zelensky’s plane was almost hit by a drone while taking off from Chisinau.

The drone entered Moldovan airspace around 16:20 on September 8, causing Chisinau Airport to suspend flights.

Ukrainian sources called the allegations of a direct threat to Zelensky’s plane exaggerated and explained that they were talking about general concern about the violation of airspace.

CHISINAU, September 10 - RIA Novosti. The Moldovan authorities have denied statements by the Norwegian Prime Minister that Vladimir Zelensky’s plane was almost hit by a drone while taking off from Chisinau.

"The plane... took off with a delay due to temporary restrictions in the airspace. There was no direct threat to the aircraft," the Moldovan government said in a statement.

Earlier, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that Zelensky’s plane was “almost hit” by a drone on Tuesday while taking off from Moldova.

The Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported earlier that the drone allegedly entered the country's airspace at about 16:20 (which coincides with Moscow time) on September 8. Chisinau Airport suspended flights, several aircraft went to alternate airfields. The drone was tracked by the military until it crossed the border into Romania.
