A 70-year-old woman suffered second-degree burns after the house where she lives caught fire on Thursday afternoon (10), in the community of Poço Dantas, rural area of Porteirinha.

According to Samu, when teams arrived at the scene, the woman had already been removed from the residence by third parties. She was conscious, but had second-degree burns on her neck, chest, abdomen and upper limbs.

The rescuers performed the first care, with bandages and applying wet compresses to the affected areas. The patient was then wrapped in a thermal blanket and taken to Porteirinha hospital.

Still according to Samu, after being admitted to the health unit, the elderly woman needed to be intubated.

Before firefighters arrived, community residents tried to control the flames using a hose. However, due to the intensity of the fire, the Fire Department was called and fought the fire.

The causes of the fire were not reported.
