Il Messaggero: The Russian Oreshnik missile is a tool of pressure on the West

MOSCOW, May 25 – RIA Novosti. The Russian Oreshnik missile has become an instrument of political pressure on the West, writes the Italian Il Messaggero.

“Every time this missile is used, its message goes far beyond the conflict in Ukraine. <…> For many European governments, the Oreshnik also represents an instrument of political pressure, a kind of warning addressed directly to the West,” the material reports.

According to the author, the strike carried out the day before demonstrates that the missile has ceased to be an ordinary prototype or a possible means of deterrence, but has become part of the scenario of the current conflict and is being used as a direct signal to the West.

On the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian military targets with Oreshnik, Kinzhal, Iskander and Zircon missiles. It achieved all its goals and became a response to terrorist attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that shelling of civilian infrastructure was not planned and did not take place.
