The Pope at the Angelus: a thought for the peoples at war and the victims of the earthquake

At the Angelus, recited from Castel Gandolfo on the day of the Catholic religious anniversary of the Assumption of Mary, the Pope addressed a thought to the peoples suffering from war. Leo prayed to Mary for «those communities who particularly need to be consoled and to continue to hope. I think of the Christians who suffer discrimination or even persecution." “I continue to pray in these days for the Colombian populations who are suffering due to the earthquake,” he added.

We can meet it - said the Pope in the homily of the mass in Castel Gandolfo - where there is true charity: in the eyes of a father and a mother who return home after a day of work, tired, but happy to be with their children; in the faces of grandfathers and grandmothers who, despite the ailments of age, are rekindled with unexpected energy in taking care of their grandchildren; or even in the commitment of young people who strive to grow up clean and honest - underlined Leo XIV -, also ready to go against the grain compared to 'what everyone else does'; finally in the work of many men and women who daily, with faith and dedication, contribute to bringing a little bit of Heaven to the earth and the earth towards Heaven".
