Ilyas Kherbouch, alias “Ganito”, urgently transferred after the discovery of an escape plan

Did “Ganito” try to flee again? Elements found in his cell in Fresnes prison (Val-de-Marne) prompted the prison administration to urgently transfer Ilyas Kherbouch to a new prison this summer, confirming sources indicate to Le Figaro, confirming the information revealed by Le Parisien.

Ilyas Kherbouch escaped from the Villepinte remand center (Seine-Saint-Denis) on March 7 with the help of three people, two of whom posed as police officers in order to extract the detainee. In total, six people were indicted. After his escape, which was noted 48 hours later by the prison administration, Ilyas Kherbouch, known to the courts for violent home-jackings, stayed a few days in the Netherlands, in Delft, with his partner, a former prison guard, before being arrested on March 20, his birthday, in the south of France.

Homejacking of Donnarumma

Since then, the person concerned has been incarcerated in Fresnes prison (Val-de-Marne). During the summer, a “rough plan, a sketch” was found in his cell, a prison source tells us, suggesting a new escape plan. He was therefore transferred on August 7 to Meaux prison, in Seine-et-Marne. According to our information, the prison administration would soon consider placing him in a high security unit to combat organized crime (QLCO).

This news comes as “Ganito” must be tried this Thursday and Friday in Paris, for the traumatic burglary in July 2023 of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, then a PSG player. The case was marked by the suicide in prison of a suspect, threatened for having been a "snitch", and the miscarriage of Donnarumma's fiancée a few weeks after this nightmarish night, during which the Italian couple thought they were dying.

A security system was put in place for his extraction at the Paris judicial court. Ilyas Kherbouch's defense will file a request for the trial to be closed, said lawyer Alfred Reboul, who will represent him at the hearing. “My client refuses that this hearing, which concerns particularly serious facts, be transformed into a circus or a play whose components and issues would exceed him,” Mr. Reboul declared in a press release.
