Taiwan on Tuesday opened a national pavilion for the first time at the InnoTrans global transportation technology trade show in Berlin, aiming to showcase resilient rail solutions and attract international partners, officials said at the event.

Organized by the Railway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, the Taiwan National Pavilion InnoTrans exhibition features 14 partners from academia, research institutions and the private sector, including the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation.

The exhibition focuses on smart transportation and railway resilience, highlighting Taiwan's advantages in industries such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) Internet of Things, and smart railway system integration, said Yang Zhengjun, director of the Railway Bureau.

Taiwanese companies have booths at the show, but the national pavilion serves as a platform for the domestic railway industry to gain global visibility and build international partnerships, Yang said.

The Ministry of Transport stated that 26 Taiwanese companies have set up exhibitions at the exhibition, which will continue until tomorrow.

Transportation Minister Chen Shi-kai said at the opening ceremony that although Taiwan is small, its century-old development in traditional trains, high-speed rail, urban subway systems and light rail reflects its ambitions in rail transportation.

Taiwan will apply its expertise in artificial intelligence, virtual simulation and information technology to enhance its capabilities in train design, motor machinery, system integration and safety verification, enhancing its ability to drive growth in Taiwan's railway industry, Chen Shikai said.
