Intel Razor Lake-S will arrive with LGA 1954 in 2028

Intel Razor Lake-S will hit the shelves in 2028. Moreover, it is claimed that these desktop processors will be compatible with the LGA 1954 socket used by Nova Lake-S. The socket is the socket where the processor fits into the motherboard. Thus, the platform will be supported for more than one generation.

First of all, the information came from Jaykihn, who shared on X. It is stated that Razor Lake is still planned as a 2028 product. However, it was not announced in which quarter it would be released.

Nova Lake-S is targeted to be released in the first quarter of 2027. That's why Computex 2028 period or the second half of 2028 comes to mind for Intel Razor Lake-S. This is just a guess though.

On the Nova Lake side, there will be S, HX and H configurations. Razor Lake, on the other hand, will cover all of these. There will also be a higher-end AX model.

The biggest innovation of Intel Razor Lake-S will be the transition to Griffin Cove P-Core architecture. P-Core, that is, performance core, is the type of core that does the heavy work. This structure will be built on the architecture of Coyote Cove in Nova Lake-S. It is also expected that new generation production technologies will be used.

Griffin Cove will also be included in the new Xeon family, codenamed Coral Rapids. On the Xeon side, there is SMT (single core running two threads) support. But there will be no SMT in the client series. Therefore, Jaykihn says, it is a similar but separate architecture.

According to previous information, many Nova Lake models have been shifted to Razor Lake. That's why Nova Lake-AX will be released as Razor Lake-AX. Likewise, models with 12 Xe3P iGPU cores have also moved to the Razor Lake family. iGPU means integrated graphics unit inside the processor.

Nova Lake will have options consisting of P-Core or E-Core. However, these will be limited to the Xeon series only. Additionally, models with up to 16 P-Core will be seen in Nova Lake. This is similar to the 12 P-Core models that came with Bartlett Lake-S in the Raptor Lake era, but only in embedded and server systems.

The second quarter of 2027 is targeted for the entry-level Wildcat Lake Refresh "Core Series 4". The computing unit will be based on 18A-P production technology. Moreover, the Panther Cove P-Core and Arctic Wolf E-Core cores will be preserved. Moon Lake, on the other hand, will arrive in the last quarter of 2027 with the 18A compute unit and Darkmont LPE cores.

Intel has not yet made an official announcement about Nova Lake. The company had initially targeted the second half of 2026. But the latest news points to the first half of 2027. New leaks are expected to arrive in the coming months.
