Apple's first foldable phone, iPhone Duo, has been extremely popular since it went on sale. In fact, even before pre-orders were opened, there was news that the first batch of iPhone Duo supplies was quite limited, and the first batch of units arriving in Taiwan may even be less than 20,000 units. Due to the complex process of folding mobile phones, previous supply chain news pointed out that the iPhone Duo assembly yield rate is only slightly more than 60%, and it is difficult to quickly increase production capacity in a short period of time, which has also become a major challenge for Apple's supply. Market research agency IDC estimates that iPhone Duo shipments will be about 7 million units this year.

Online auctions are resold at high prices and become a chaos

As the iPhone Duo is hard to come by, social platforms such as Threads and PTT in Taiwan have also seen posts soliciting or reselling new phones. Some netizens are even willing to increase the price, just to get the phone in advance, giving scalpers an opportunity to take advantage.

Observing the eBay auction website in the United States, many sellers have advertised that the iPhone Duo will be in stock on the first day of listing on October 23, and are reselling the iPhone Duo at a high price, and the asking prices are quite astonishing. For example, some sellers have priced the 2TB version at more than NT$230,000, and even the entry-level 256GB version has offered a sky-high price of nearly NT$220,000. Compared with Apple's official selling price, it has almost skyrocketed to 2 to 3 times the original price. However, these are just the seller's asking prices, and it remains to be seen whether any buyers are actually willing to pay the price.
