Reaction from Iran to the New US Economic Sanctions

In his message shared on his social media account, Erakçi reacted to US President Trump's statement about the "most crushing economic operation in history" against Iran.

In his message, Erakçi quoted the then US President Barack Obama's statement in 2012 that they had imposed the most "paralyzing" sanctions in history on Iran, and said, "14 years ago, the heaviest sanctions in history. They failed." He included his statements.

Referring to the sanctions that Trump introduced in his first term, which he called "maximum pressure", and the subsequent pressures of the US administration, Erakçi said, "Maximum pressure 8 years ago. It failed. Unconditional surrender 5 months ago. It failed. Today, it is the most crushing economic operation in history. It is doomed to fail. We have seen this movie before. Same nonsense. Different tyrants." made his assessment.

In his statement, Trump announced that he had launched "the most crushing economic operation ever imposed on any country" against Iran, describing it as "Economic D-Day" and "economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale."

Trump claimed that countries that provide any kind of support to Iran would face severe economic consequences.

Chairman of the National Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ibrahim Azizi, said that they will "strongly" force the USA to lift sanctions, release Iran's frozen assets, end the naval blockade and withdraw from the region.

In his message shared on his social media account, Azizi said, "The USA has proven that it does not understand the language of diplomacy. They will neither lift the sanctions, nor release Iran's resources, nor put an end to maritime piracy." he said.

Claiming that they will force the USA to do these, Azizi said, "However, history will show that the language of power will force it not only to take these steps, but also to apologize to the great Iranian nation and withdraw from the region forever." made his assessment.
