MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Tehran is grateful to Moscow for the remarks made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov from the podium of the UN General Assembly, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali told TASS, describing the speech as "excellent."

"Lavrov's speech was excellent. We are grateful for Russia's firm stance on Iran, as well as for its condemnation of the killing of our Supreme Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. We are very grateful," Jalali said in response to a question on the matter.

Last week, during the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Lavrov said, among other things, that Russia considers the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with members of his family and the Islamic Republic's military and political leadership, an unacceptable manifestation of the "diktat of force."

Lavrov also said that "of particular concern is the fact that the targets of the US-Israeli aggression, which began last June, included not only Iran's civilian infrastructure but also peaceful nuclear facilities protected by IAEA safeguards."

According to the Russian foreign minister, the attacks have caused irreparable damage to the credibility of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the broader nuclear non-proliferation system.
