Israel orders investigation into 'Naza' film for disclosure of classified material

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir has ordered a forensic review and investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of classified material used in the production of the film "Naza", which he accused of spreading "slander" and serious false accusations against Israeli soldiers and commanders. The IDF reports this in a note. Zamir claims that the film deliberately distorts reality by undermining the legitimacy of the army and the State of Israel and has ordered the creation of an interagency and multidisciplinary team led by the head of the Planning Directorate.

Possible legal action against the film and those involved

The team will develop action plans and tools to counter what the military calls false accusations against the Israel Defense Forces and its soldiers, working with Israeli and foreign experts. It also directed the military attorney general to review and bring possible legal action regarding the film and those involved. The Army will separately review cybersecurity aspects of the production, including the possible involvement of individuals in the unauthorized disclosure of classified material used in the making of the film. Zamir also called for a broad national and international public diplomacy effort in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the National Directorate for Public Diplomacy and other relevant bodies. The Israel Defense Forces will "use every tool at its disposal to protect its soldiers, commanders and combat troops, as well as the reputation of the Israeli army."
