Izmir International Literature Festival was organized with the theme 'Literature Heals'

The 10th Izmir International Literature Festival, organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality this year with the theme "Literature Heals" between 24-27 September, brought literature together with different artistic disciplines for four days. The guests of honor of the festival, directed by poet Haydar Ergülen, were Alberto Manguel and Zülfü Livaneli. The festival, which started at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM) on September 24, continued with events at Izmir Art Culture Center, Bergama Cultural Center and different points of the city. In the opening program, the awards of the poetry, story and essay competition for high school students were also given to their owners. Throughout the festival, the theme of "Literature Heals" was discussed through different stories, thoughts and experiences through interviews, documentaries, theater and various meetings.

INTERVIEWS, DOCUMENTARIES AND THEATER

Alberto Manguel and Zülfü Livaneli's "Does Literature Heal?", Manguel's "Ancient Libraries", Prof. Dr. Meetings titled "Philosophy of Goodness" by Ahmet İnam, "Does a Novel Heal?" by Tarık Tufan and Fabienne Leloup, "Healing with Poetry" by İlhan Sami Çomak, "Anatolian Enlightenment and Goodness" by Ayşe Acar and "On Healing" by Ayşe Bilge Selçuk attracted great attention. In Ferid Hüseyin and Dalmira Tilepbergenova's conversation "Poetry and Cinema", the relationship between literature and cinema was discussed. One of the highlights of the festival was the screening of the documentary "Livaneli: The Story of a Man and a Country", directed by Nebil Özgentürk and telling about the life and artistic journey of Zülfü Livaneli. The documentary, which met with the audience at the Izmir Art Culture Center Hall, reached a wider audience thanks to the screen installed outdoors. Tolga Oskar's documentary "Nilgün" about Nilgün Marmara and Murat Çidamlı's play "Piraye" were among the works that attracted attention in the festival program.

MANY ARTISTS FROM DOMESTIC AND ABROAD MEET IN IZMIR

The festival brought together many artists, poets, writers, directors and academicians from different countries as well as Turkey, in Izmir. Prof from Turkey. Dr. Ahmet İnam, Monica Papi, Erkut Tokman, Tarık Tufan, Ayşe Acar, İlhan Sami Çomak, Nebil Özgentürk, Prof. Dr. Many names, including A. Nilgün Canel, Hüseyin Peker, Namık Kuyumcu, Ayşe Bilge Selçuk, Çağla Ayhan, Eşref Yener, Altay Ömer Erdoğan, Murat Çidamlı, Mete Özel, Efruze Esra, Zeynep Çolakoğlu and Tolga Oskar, met with the people of Izmir. International guests of the festival included Dalmira Tilepbergenova from Kyrgyzstan, Petr Hruška, Yvetta Ellerová and Jana Orlová from the Czech Republic, Petra Nachtmanova from Austria, Ferid Hüseyin from Azerbaijan, Louis Armand from Australia, Fabienne Leloup and Sylvain Cavaillès from France.
